Announcement of the passing of Mr Foo Chee Han, President of SSTA
I am deeply saddened to inform you that our President, Mr. Foo Chee Han passed away on 26th November, 2015 at the age of 75. He experienced discomfort when he was conducting a theory examination for one of the candidates from 31st Swimming Teachers’ Course. He was sent to Mount Alvernia immediately and passed away later in the hospital.
Mr. Foo, founder member of Singapore Swimming Teachers’ Association (SSTA), dedicated almost his entire life in promoting swimming and drowning prevention in Singapore and the region. As a former national swimmer, he saw the importance of acquiring swimming skills as a life skill and founded SSTA in 1980 to promote this cause. He has since trained and mentored countless swim coaches and coached swimming to generations. His dedication and passion to his work had benefitted and inspired many people. With his passing, we lost a great man and leader but we will do our best to continue the legacy he left behind. With my deepest condolences to his family, may his soul rest in peace.
